Arsenal face an anxious wait over Martin Odegaard ahead of the Champions League clash with Sevilla

Arsenal must put their disappointing Premier League defeat to Newcastle United behind them rather quickly this week as Mikel Arteta’s men return to Champions League action.

The Gunners suffered their first league loss of the season on Saturday night following Anthony Gordon’s controversial goal. Now, Arsenal must refocus and look to seal their spot in the Champions League round of 16. Victory over Sevilla will all but secure their spot in the knockout phases heading into the final two games.

Arteta will be hoping to have captain Martin Odegaard back after the 24-year-old missed Saturday’s defeat. An update on Odegaard’s fitness is expected to be provided by Arteta on Tuesday. Two players who are almost certain to miss Wednesday’s game are Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey.

Gabriel Jesus is also out after picking up a hamstring injury, with the Brazilian looking for a period on the sidelines.
