Arsenal have confirmed that Mika Biereth will spend the second half of the season on loan with Austrian side Sturm Graz.

The Denmark youngster, 20, had been playing well for Motherwell and was a big part of how Stuart Kettlewell’s side lined up as they hoped to keep hold of the attacker whose initial deal was scheduled until the end of the season.

The Gunners, however, opted to recall him for what they felt was a more suitable club for the level they want him playing as Kettlewell explained to the media.

Now Austrian Bundesliga giants Sturm Graz have unveiled the hitman as their newest January recruit as he posed up for pictures while he penned his deal.

Biereth, on making the switch, said: “The last few days have been very exciting, everything happened very quickly, but that’s just how it is in football. SK Sturm is a big club in Austria that has high goals – just like I am very ambitious and strive for the highest both in my personal development and with the team.

“Arthur Okonkwo, a player on loan from Arsenal, was recently extremely successful here in Graz – I hope to be able to follow in his footsteps in this regard.”
