Arsenal may have dropped a significant team news hint for their side’s trip to Brighton on Saturday evening.

Bukayo Saka has already been deemed a doubt for the clash, though his absence from training photos could indicate that he will not be fit to take on the Seagulls.

Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 victory over Luton Town in midweek in relatively simple fashion, despite Mikel Arteta opting to rotate his ranks markedly. Declan Rice, Jorginho and Gabriel Martinelli were among those to have been rested, with Saka not even named in the matchday squad as he was not deemed fully fit.

The England international remains a doubt for his side’s trip to the Amex Stadium this weekend too, with Arteta remaining coy when asked about the condition of his prolific No. 7. Asked if Saka would be able to play against Brighton ahead of their training session on Friday morning, the Spaniard replied: “We have a training session in a few hours and we will know if he’s fit or not.”

The lack of clarity on the matter certainly won’t have aided Brighton’s preparation for the match, though Arsenal appear to have dropped a significant hint on Saka’s fitness on social media just 24 hours before the match.

The Gunners posted a selection of photos from their training session at the Sobha Realty Training Centre ahead of the clash with Brighton, and Saka did not feature in any of the 14 images published.

The post, labelled ‘Gallery: Building up to Brighton’, showed the likes of Rice, Jorginho and Jurrien Timber all taking part in training drills. Two wide-lens photos were also published which showed nine stars all laughing at one another’s expense, though Saka was nowhere to be seen in the shot.

Arsenal fans will be forced to suspensefully wait until Sunday to learn whether Arsenal dropped the ball with their training post or whether Saka simply was not among those to have been snapped by the photographer in the session.

If the 22-year-old is forced to watch another match unfold from the sidelines then Leandro Trossard may be offered the chance to shine against his former side, having left the Seagulls in January 2023 after a public falling out with manager Roberto De Zerbi.
