Arsenal player ratings vs Newcastle

Arsenal produced a dominant win over Newcastle to make a statement in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners romped to a 4-1 win thanks to an own goal from Sven Botman and strikes from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Jakub Kiwior.

David Raya 8

Some early giveaways and a slightly delayed release of possession that had home fans’ hearts racing. Recovered well though and swept superbly. Might even have had another pre-assist with a quick kick out if not for Paul Tierney.

Ben White 8

Aside from being done by a superb piece of skill by Alexander Isak this was a really good display from White. Inverted superbly and attacked very well.

William Saliba 7

Hardly had a thing to do all first half, but when Newcastle did show a little more up front in the second he was composed as ever.

Gabriel 8

Broke the game open yet again from a set piece for Arsenal even if the goal won’t go down as his. Continues to be an underrated part of this superb recent Arsenal run.

Jakub Kiwior 8

A rare goal for the Pole who was back on form in the left back spot today. Defended well and contributed to the attack out wide on occasion.

Jorginho 8

With everything in front of him this was a game that suited the Italian down to the ground. His display was as excellent as his one-man mission for revenge on Bruno Guimaraes was enjoyable.

Declan Rice 8

Yet more assists from corners for the England international. He admitted his side showed inexperience in midweek, but he led a superbly disciplined and mature display.

Martin Odegaard 9

The Norwegian continues his outstanding form. Won’t get the numbers that stat-lovers rate so highly today, but make no mistake, he was outstanding.

Bukayo Saka 8

Goals in five consecutive Premier League games for Saka. First Arsenal player since Olivier Giroud in 2015 to do that. Such incredible consistency for someone who is still only 22 let’s not forget.

Kai Havertz 9

Edu was speaking before the game about Arsenal’s plans for a nine this summer. Kai Havertz is proving a pretty good stop gap. Another goal for the German who continues his fine run of form.

Gabriel Martinelli 8

A superb assist for Kai Havertz’s goal was the highlight of a good performance. The Brazilian worked tirelessly and was unlucky not to score himself after a tricky night in Portugal.

Nearly set off for another counter attacking goal by David Raya only for Tierney to get in the way. Was decent off the bench in the left wing position though.
