Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is reportedly interested in joining Chelsea before the transfer window closes.

The 22-year-old has been left out of Arsenal’s squad for their first two league games this season, and could leave the club in the coming days.

Fulham have been ramping up their efforts to sign Balogun after their talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, but they are not the only Premier League club keeping tabs on the American international.

Chelsea have also registered an interest in signing Balogun, and he is open to moving to Stamford Bridge, according to the Evening Standard.

The Blues have made contact with Arsenal about a potential deal, with the Gunners believed to want in the region of £50m before allowing Balogun to leave.

Balogun enjoyed a breakthrough campaign while on loan at Stade Reims last season, netting 21 league goals to steer his side to a mid-table finish.

Chelsea have clearly been impressed by his goalscoring abilities, as they look to fix their own woes in front of goal.

The west London outfit scored just 38 league goals last term, fewer than relegated sides Leicester City and Leeds United.

The club have brought in Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson this summer, but their fortunes in the final third have shown few signs of improvement.

Nkunku is currently sidelined with a knee injury and is not expected to return until the end of the year, while Jackson is yet to get off the mark after arriving from Villarreal.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have scored just two goals in their first two top flight fixtures, and were made to pay for several costly misses against West Ham on Sunday.

Chelsea dominated the majority of the first half, but failed to take their chances, and West Ham’s ruthless second half display secured David Moyes’ men a 3-1 win.

Pochettino admitted afterwards that he would like to bring in another striker before the transfer window shuts next week, and Balogun has now emerged as a potential target to lead the line.
