The Gunners are on the market for a new midfielder after Thomas Partey has struggled with injuries this season. They have been linked with quite a few names already, and talkSPORT now add Neves into the mix.
The Portuguese midfielder left the wolves Wanderers and joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in the summer for £47 million (Sky Sports).
Over recent weeks, however, Neves has been heavily linked with a return to England, with Newcastle United, whose owners also call the shots at Al-Hilal, heavily linked with a move to sign him.
Now, talkSPORT claim that Arsenal are ready to hijack Newcastle‘s move to sign Neves, with Edu Gaspar said to be a long-term admirer of the talented midfielder.
Newcastle’s hope of signing Neves is already in doubt with Premier League clubs planning to vote in favour of a ban against clubs with the same ownership group loaning players between themselves.
Arsenal are reportedly planning to take advantage of that with a move of their own, but it will be interesting to see if PIF-owned Al-Hilal will be interested in letting him join Newcastle’s direct rivals.
