Arsenal’s hopes of bringing Jorrel Hato to the Emirates Stadium appear to be in tatters, with the teenage defender reportedly set to commit his long-term future to Ajax.

Hato is the latest in a long line of Dutch talents to have been produced by the Eredivisie giants, who are renowned for their knack of developing top players.

Hato, who has already captained Ajax on two occasions this season, is said to be attracting interest from several European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. Arsenal are said to be keeping a close eye on his development, according to the Evening Standard, with the Gunners considering a move for the youngster at the end of the season.

However, it seems that Hato will be going nowhere for the foreseeable future, with Ajax thought to be closing in on a new deal to keep him at the club until 2028. Fabrizio Romano reports that a contract extension is very close and will be finalised when the remaining details are clarified over the next few days.

Hato’s new deal is not expected to include a release clause, which is likely to be bad news for Arsenal ahead of the summer window. It means Ajax will have the final say on any bid that comes in for him, with the Dutch giants under no pressure to sell their prized asset for the time being.
