Arsenal’s links with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey have taken a huge twist.

The 30-year-old has impressed for the side whenever he has been involved, whether that’s in midfield or asked to play as an inverted full-back. However, with just under two-years remaining on his contract there will no doubt be questions over whether a renewal should be considered.

The midfielder has already missed a run of key clashes earlier this season before being absent from the team that faced Sevilla last week in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta later confirmed that the midfielder would be out with a muscular injury for a few weeks. With those concerns, there have been suggestions that a possible exit could be on the cards for the former Atletico Madrid man.

Juventus have been linked with a switch for the January transfer window, but there would be the need for a replacement to be found. And one player that has been linking with a move to the Emirates stadium is Aurelien Tchouameni, the Frenchman who joined  Real Madrid from Monaco last summer in a huge transfer worth up to £85million, has been involved in the first-team. suggestions that he could be leaving have continued to arise.

With Arsenal linked with a switch, Fabrizio Romano has discussed the possibility of a deal, saying on CaughtOffside: “Thomas Partey’s recent injury is a blow for Arsenal, and we are perhaps unsurprisingly seeing some stories come up as a result of this, with links to new midfielders who could perhaps replace Partey.

“Still, my understanding for now is that Arsenal have not decided anything yet about a new midfielder, and there’s nothing to the links with Aurelian Tchouameni – no talks, no proposals, or anything like that.”
