Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice react after Runar Alex Runarsson leaves Arsenal

The Gunners failed to sign anyone in the winter transfer window, but they did get a few players out. Runarsson was one of them, and he has now joined Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

Arsenal signed Runar Alex Runarsson to replace Emiliano Martinez back in the summer of 2020. The Iceland international was never viewed as someone who would be the first-choice at Arsenal. He played as a backup to Bernd Leno in his debut campaign and didn’t have a great time at all.

Runarsson played six games for Arsenal and conceded seven goals. He then spent three spells on loan in Belgium, Turkey and most recently at Cardiff in Wales.

He was sent back to Arsenal a few days ago, and the Gunners decided to terminate his contract. He joined Copenhagen on a free transfer on deadline day.

Last night, Runarsson took to Instagram to bid farewell to Arsenal after nearly four years as a Gunner.

Bukayo Saka replied “All the best my bro”, while Reiss Nelson added: “My boy!”

Declan Rice wrote: “Good luck bro!”
