Indeed, according to David Ornstein, Arsenal had initially planned to sell Patino but instead of selling the 20-year-old on a permanent basis, the Gunners instead loaned him out to Swansea.
Patino headed to the Liberty Stadium knowing that he may well have been in the last chance saloon at the Emirates, but it looks as though he has more than taken his chance.
Patino has been fantastic in the Championship, and according to Fabrizio Romano, writing for CaughtOffside, Arsenal are indeed very happy with how Patino is getting on over in Wales.
“Charlie Patino, the Arsenal youngster out on loan at Swansea City, has also been linked as a target for Juventus, but again I’m not aware of anything between Juve and Patino at the moment. Decisions will be made in the second half of 2024, not now,” Romano wrote.
“From Arsenal’s perspective, they are happy with Patino’s progress this season and the agreement with Swansea was probably a smart decision by the club when they had to resolve his future back in the summer.”
Patino keeps on impressing every single time he’s asked to step up, and we can’t help but wonder whether or not he’s going to get a shot at Arsenal next season.
