Fabrizio Romano has just claimed that a decision has been made by Arsenal regarding the future of Cedric Soares.

The Gunners are expected to have a busy summer transfer window. Fans will mostly focus on the incomings, but quite a few players could leave Arsenal too. Cedric is one of them.

Cedric Soares joined Arsenal on an initial loan deal from Southampton in January 2020. That move was made permanent in the following summer.

The Portugal international, branded as ‘fantastic’ by Gilberto Silva, was never the first choice at the Emirates. He has played 64 times for the Gunners in all competitions, but Mikel Arteta has only ever viewed him as a backup.

Since the start of last season, Cedric has barely played. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham and has been given less than an hour of game time in the Premier League this time around.

It was always expected that Cedric would leave Arsenal on a free transfer this summer, and Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed that the decision has been made.

The journalist also adds that there are ‘many clubs in Europe’ interested in signing Cedric before the start of next season.

Romano tweeted: “Cédric Soares will leave Arsenal as free agent in the summer, decision made.

“Portuguese RB remains fully committed to the club until June as top professional then he will leave #AFC. Many clubs in Europe, considering Cédric as a top option for the summer on free transfer.”
