Ian Wright says that something is ‘in the works’ for Arsenal on transfer front

Arsenal still want to sell four players before the transfer window ends, hoping to raise funds and clear space in their squad for new arrivals.

William Saliba was excited by Riccardo Calafiori’s Arsenal debut – there’s evidently no problem when it comes to the club’s talent identification.

But Arsenal appear to be putting their foot down when it comes to those leaving the club this summer, attempting to achieve better deals than for those who left in the past.

Arsenal rejected a loan bid for Aaron Ramsdale on Tuesday, preferring that the goalkeeper leaves the club on a permanent basis.

And as Edu tries to oversee something akin to a one in, out policy, it could be a risky game if sufficient progress hasn’t been made towards the end of the month.

That being said, when discussing Arsenal pre-season and the club’s summer business thus far on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Ian Wright shared a few words which may excite fans.

Edu recently made a promise to Arsenal supporters, saying they won’t be disappointed at the end of the month.

And when speaking on the podcast, Wright seemed to suggest that he had heard something similar.

Wright shared: “I’m really pleased with what’s been happening with the way the pre-season has gone.

“When you look at Arsenal, yes, we have only signed Calafiori but the main thing is that the players are ready to go again.

“I know there is something else that could be in the works for Arsenal, they are going to try to do something, they have to.

“When you got 89 points, you have to find a way to get 90 plus. Five games last season we didn’t score for, that can’t happen. They have to find a way to score more goals.

“I think if something comes up, I heard him say the other day [Mikel]. They need the bench to be better.”
