Journalist thinks Everton midfielder Amadou Onana would be keen to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal

Yesterday it was reported that Arsenal were strongly in talks with Everton’s Amadou Onana regarding a possible move this month.

Onana is having a fine season for Sean Dyche’s side, and it almost felt inevitable that a bigger club would come knocking.

And since the news broke, journalist Luke Edwards has now provided more information on Onana’s preference towards any deal.

It seems Everton would be reluctant to sell their star midfielder to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal this month, but appreciate they will be delaying the inevitable.

Speaking on the BBC’s ‘Transfer Gossip Daily’, Edwards said he wouldn’t be surprised if Onana did leave.

Edwards said: “The rumours about Arsenal have been around for a while and again it’s that vulnerability that Everton are projecting to the rest of football.

“People think they can go in and poach their best players, that’s not a good place to be in.”

He continued: “Maybe Arsenal need to sell to buy as well, but I think he would be a good fit for both.

“I think Onana, from what we’re hearing, is certainly tempted to leave, I’m not going to go as far as to say he wants to leave, but I think he would be interested in either of those moves.

“There is somebody somewhere agitating for this move, now that might be an intermediary. I’m going to put him in the unsettled bracket. At Everton, there is a feeling that they will have to sell, but they would like to hold on until the summer, they don’t want to lose him this month.

“I think Onana’s vulnerable, I now would not be surprised to see him leaving Everton I have to say.”
