Mikel Arteta admits he is ‘worried’ over Emile Smith Rowe’s knee injury after the midfielder missed Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash against West Ham on Wednesday evening.

The 23-year-old made his first Premier League start of the season on Saturday as Arsenal sealed a 5-0 win over Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium.

Smith Rowe was expected to keep his place in the team for the Gunners’ trip to West Ham, however, the midfielder failed to make the squad due to a knee problem.

‘We have an issue with him,’ Arteta said before kick off. ‘He felt something in his knee and started to feel some pain after the game.

‘We are assessing him but a bit worried with him.’
