Eddie Howe’s side are said to be considering former Manchester United stopper David De Gea and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris. Ramsdale has also been touted as a potential arrival at St. James’ Park after losing his starting spot in north London.
Ramsdale has started just once in the Premier League since September after the summer signing of David Raya on an initial loan with the option to by for £27million.
This has impacted his standing in the pecking order for the English national, with Gareth Southgate admitting last month that Ramsdale may not have a place in his squad for next summer’s Euros if he fails to secure regular game time.
Arteta has insisted that Ramsdale is still part of his plans at Arsenal and insisted that the former Sheffield United ‘keeper wants to stay at the Emirates.
“I want Aaron with us,” he told reporters ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash with Luton Town.
“I am very happy to have two very very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us.
“He’s willing to play. Like any player, he wants to play for Arsenal. That’s what he wants to do. Then the other is a consequence. And as well for England it’s not like he has started a lot of games, so hopefully we can help him be better here so then he can play for England.”
“I won’t (guarantee they’re going to stay) with any player. Any player. I cannot tell you that any Arsenal player is not going to leave in January. Or he is to stay here for the next three years.”
“I won’t say that no player is going to go to Newcastle. Or no member of the staff either. I won’t say it. If you say yes or no, I won’t say it.
“The answer is no for any player. I won’t say for any player. No player or the staff I cannot guarantee to be leaving in January. I cannot guarantee that nobody is going to be leaving in January. For Newcastle or any other club.”
