Mikel Arteta says Bukayo Saka is in Arsenal’s leadership group now

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is now a part of the club’s leadership group.

The Gunners have Martin Odegaard as the club captain, but he’s not the only one behind the scenes. Arsenal have had a leadership group consisting of three or more players for a few years, and it now looks like Saka is a part of that.

Last weekend, towards the end of the game against Chelsea, Bukayo Saka was spotted wearing the armband, and he celebrated the proud moment on Instagram.

in Mikel Arteta’s press conference yesterday, he was asked if Saka is now a part of the leadership group at Arsenal. He replied: “Yes!”

He added: “I think it is really important for them because the role that they have in our way of playing, in our team and in our club has to be mirrored with the leadership level that they should have around the team to make it grow.

“I think it’s been a perfect environment; we have a really good mixture of players, teams and experiences in that group and it’s going to be a really valuable time to spend with those guys to understand what happens behind the scenes as well.”
