Sutton says Kai Havertz could be in the Team of the Season

Arsenal certainly aren’t short of players who are expected to be in that conversation next month. The likes of William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice have all dazzled for the Gunners this term.

Saliba, Gabriel and Rice have all contributed to Arsenal boasting the best defensive record in the league after 35 games played. As for Saka, he continues to provide in the final third and is the club’s top goalscorer this season with 15 goals to his name.

But a couple of Arsenal players have taken many by surprise this term and none more than Kai Havertz.

After his goal in the 3-2 win at Tottenham on Sunday, Havertz has netted 12 times in all competitions this term.

The German also became the first Arsenal player to score and assist in four-plus league games since Alexis Sanchez in 2017.

It’s fair to say that Havertz has exceeded expectations in north London so far following a difficult spell at Chelsea. And Chris Sutton believes the former Blues forward deserves to be in the mix for the Premier League’s Team of the Season.

“I mean, Havertz, he must be in the mix now,” Sutton told It’s All Kicking Off!, “If you were to pick a first-XI Premier League team, Havertz must be in the mix to get into that now. He has been such a valuable player.”
